UK Gambling Commission had introduced new rules on promotions and bonuses
The UK Gambling Commission has announced new regulations on gambling incentives, set to take effect on December 19. These changes aim to protect consumers and ensure greater transparency in promotional offers.
Ban on Mixed Gambling Bonuses
Operators will no longer be able to offer promotions that combine different gambling products. For example, customers won’t need to place both a sports bet and play a slot game to qualify for a bonus.
This ban only applies to incentives that require using multiple product types. Operators can still offer bonuses within the same category, such as casino-only or sports-only promotions.
The Commission introduced this rule after concerns that cross-selling bonuses confuse players and push them towards riskier gambling. Research found that gambling across multiple products increases the risk of harm.
New Cap on Wagering Requirements
From December 19, online bonus wagering requirements will be limited to 10 times the bonus amount. For example, a £10 bonus cannot require more than £100 in bets before winnings can be withdrawn.
This change aims to stop misleading promotions that force players to gamble more than intended. The Commission found that high wagering requirements encourage faster, riskier gaming.
While consumer groups called for a complete ban, gambling operators argued that some restrictions are necessary to prevent bonus abuse. The 10x cap was seen as a fair compromise.

Alberta Introduces Bill 48: iGaming Alberta Act to Regulate Online Gambling
The Alberta government has introduced Bill 48: the iGaming Alberta Act. This new legislation aims to create a regulated online gambling market, allowing private operators to participate legally.
Under the new framework, the Alberta iGaming Corporation will manage private sector involvement. However, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) will continue as the industry regulator.
Bill 48 introduces key consumer protection measures:
A centralised self-exclusion system to help players manage their gambling habits across all platforms.
Reinforcement of the minimum legal age for online gambling at 18.
Currently, many gambling revenues flow to unregulated operators. This new legislation will allow the province to reclaim those funds. The government plans to reinvest revenues into Alberta and expand responsible gambling initiatives like GameSense.
3 Oaks Gaming Secures Certification for Brazil’s iGaming Market
3 Oaks Gaming has officially received certification to operate in Brazil’s newly regulated online gambling market. The approval covers its remote gaming system, random number generator, and a selection of slot games. Now, the company can supply content to licensed operators across the country.
Brazil introduced its regulatory framework in January 2025, overseen by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets. The certification confirms that 3 Oaks Gaming meets all compliance and technical standards under the new national legislation.
The Brazilian iGaming market is set to become one of the most profitable worldwide. Statista projects revenues will exceed €6.5bn ($7.04bn) in 2025. This makes Brazil a key growth opportunity for international gaming suppliers.
Yuriy Muratov, CCO of 3 Oaks Gaming, commented: “Securing certification in Brazil is a major milestone for us. This market has huge potential, and we’re thrilled to bring our slot content to licensed operators.”
