This Ontario move is part of Wazdan’s wider global expansion. Recently, the company partnered with Bally’s Interactive to distribute its slots to UK players. Earlier this year, Wazdan also launched its content in key US states, including New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, via Fanatics Casino.
Radka Bacheva, Head of Sales and Business Development at Wazdan, commented: “Expanding our presence in Ontario with a trusted brand like NorthStar is an exciting milestone. Our portfolio, combined with their market strength, will deliver measurable growth and enhanced entertainment for players.”
Dean MacNeil, VP of Product at NorthStar, added: “Our partnership with Wazdan aligns perfectly with our goal of offering a world-class gaming experience. It blends our trusted local roots with their innovative, premium content, significantly strengthening our platform.”
Denmark’s gaming revenue surges in August 2025
Denmark’s gaming regulator, Spillemyndigheden, has published revenue results for August 2025. The market saw a substantial year-on-year increase, demonstrating significant growth.
In total, the Danish gaming market generated KR 714 million (approximately $111.1 million). This figure represents a sharp 25.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
Different sectors experienced varied growth.
- Sports Betting: This was the standout performer. Revenue skyrocketed by 53.4% year-on-year to KR 225 million. Furthermore, it saw a major month-on-month jump from KR 159.3 million in July.
- Online Casino: Earnings here also grew healthily. They rose by 20.7% year-on-year to KR 361 million. However, monthly growth was more modest, increasing from KR 349.4 million in July.
- Land-Based Casino: The physical casino sector saw a slight improvement. Revenue was up 4.9% to KR 31 million, also rising by over KR 3 million from the previous month.
- Slot Machines: Earnings saw a minor dip of 0.7% to KR 95 million. Despite this annual decline, they were up over KR 5 million month-on-month.
- Land-Based Bingo: This segment generated KR 2 million, experiencing a marginal decline of around KR 70,000 from July.
The regulator also provided fresh data on the ROFUS self-exclusion register.
Currently, 64,613 people are registered. Of these, 50,560 are men and 14,053 are women. Importantly, 41,990 are permanently excluded, while 22,623 have chosen temporary bans.
The most popular temporary ban duration is six months, selected by 10,588 individuals. Next, 7,660 people opted for a three-month break.
Breaking down the data by age reveals clear trends.
- Women: The largest group of female self-excluders (3,491) were aged 30-39. Notably, six women were under 18.
- Men: For men, the 20-29 age bracket was the most prevalent, with 19,926 individuals. Additionally, 135 men under 18 used the service.
Finally, in July, Denmark updated its marketing guidance for operators. The new rules stress that all advertising must accurately represent winning chances. Furthermore, operators must avoid marketing to minors and must always present gambling as a form of entertainment, not a financial solution.
