The gambling regulators of Britain and Sweden have prolonged their agreement regarding the exchange of information

The British Gambling Commission and the Swedish gambling regulator Spelinspektionen have extended their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on information exchange.

Both regulatory bodies have obliged to provide mutual operational support, foster a shared understanding of legitimate interests, and engage in discussions regarding policy and operational matters.

Camilla Rosenberg, Director General of Spelinspektionen, emphasised the importance of global collaboration in the gambling industry, noting that while their markets may differ, there are numerous areas for shared learning and experience exchange. She highlighted that through collaborative efforts, the common objective of cultivating a healthy and secure gambling market can be achieved.

The initial signing of the MoU occurred in 2019.

Curacao has released updated requirements for obtaining gambling licences

The Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has recently released guidelines outlining the application process for both direct and sub-licences, applicable to all operators seeking to continue their operations within the jurisdiction. The deadline for registration of applications is March 31, 2024.

Outlined in a comprehensive document published this week, the application process requires companies to adhere to specific procedures. The primary requirement involves completing and submitting three essential forms: applications for iGaming, disclosure of personal history, and corporate and business information.

These clear instructions provided to operators are intended to streamline the application process and mitigate instances of misinformation.

Presently, the application procedure is conducted in accordance with Curacao’s existing legislation. However, the local parliament is in the final stages of drafting a new law, the National Ordinance for Games of Chance, aimed at enhancing the island’s standing as one of the leading gambling jurisdictions.

Mayilyan emphasised the anticipation of a fruitful collaboration and the excitement of adding Wazdan’s games to Totogaming’s online portfolio for an enhanced gaming experience.

Justin Park, CEO of Betty.ca, an online slots site for women, highlighted that female players constitute a significant portion (40% to 45%) of their business. Park stressed the importance of reimagining traditional gambling products to meet the evolving needs of clients.

Oliver Batlett, Vice President of gaming product for BetMGM, emphasised the challenge of aligning offerings with individual preferences. Bartlett underscored the potential role of artificial intelligence and algorithms in assisting clients navigate in the world of online games. He highlighted the industry-wide imperative to deliver relevant content to users at the right time.

Karolina Pelc, CEO of BeyondPlay, underlined the importance of fostering shared experiences and community within online gambling. Pelc stressed the need for continuous dialogue with players and said that innovation lies in understanding and responding to their evolving needs.
