Wazdan has expanded its market presence in Romania by partnering with Winmasters, an online casino platform. This collaboration represents another significant step in Wazdan’s strategy to increase its footprint across regulated European markets.
As a result of this partnership, several of Wazdan’s game titles have been launched on the Winmasters platform. With this alliance, Winmasters – a licensed operator in Romania, Greece, Cyprus, and Malta for over a decade – will enhance its offerings, providing a greater variety of choices to its customers.

This partnership signifies an important step in solidifying their presence in this regulated market. Earlier this year, Wazdan formed a similar partnership with Twinsbet in Lithuania.
Meanwhile, René Jansen, the chairman of Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Dutch Gaming Authority, has announced the establishment of a new Online Duty of Care Department as an interim measure. This specialised department will be dedicated solely to overseeing how online gambling operators comply with their duty of care obligations.
During his address at the Gaming in Holland event in Amsterdam, Jansen disclosed that the KSA plans to hire ten to 15 additional staff members to manage this department. It will begin to operate on September 1.
This initiative addresses instances of excessive gambling, which the regulator identified as evidence of operators neglecting their duty of care responsibilities. Jansen highlighted that the newly established Online Duty of Care department would act swiftly and decisively, employing warning letters, fines, and other sanctions against companies that fail to uphold their duty of care obligations.
Jansen also delved into proposed adjustments to advertising regulations and a potential uptick in gambling taxes. In discussing these matters, Jansen echoed the concerns expressed by many operators. He emphasised the genuine apprehension of the KSA regarding the possibility that a tax hike could drive players towards unlicensed platforms.
Regarding advertising, Jansen raised doubts about the recent proposition to ban online gambling ads altogether, arguing that such advertising is crucial for enabling players to differentiate between licensed and unlicensed operators. He pointed out the challenges associated with supervising the existing Orka Decree, which obligates operators to ensure that at least 95 percent of online advertisements reach individuals aged 24 or older.
