Spanish Gambling Regulator Plans to Create Central Data Registry, While Push Gaming Partners with Jokerstar in Germany

The Spanish gambling regulatory body, DGOJ, has started to develop data management policies to establish a unified central registry for gambling data. This registry will aggregate customer data from all licensed gambling operators in Spain, providing a holistic overview of gambling activities.

Mikel Arana, the Director General of the DGOJ, has incorporated feedback from the Sectoral Commission, which serves as the advisory body for policy and directives within the General Assembly. Initial discussions are centred on enhancing data integration across public administrations and leveraging this data to produce detailed reports on gaming activities.

Arana emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating: “The establishment of a centralised data registry will significantly boost transparency and accountability within the Spanish gambling sector. It will serve as a mechanism for monitoring and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of responsible gaming.”

The creation of a central registry was ordered over a year ago by the General Assembly through the Decree on Responsible Gambling Environments. This registry will empower DGOJ to monitor the activities and customer interactions of gambling licensees. Notably, operators will be required to develop risk profiles for customers under the age of 25.

The next phase will involve engaging stakeholders, including operators, in consultations. DGOJ aims to finalise an implementation plan by year-end, with the registry expected to become operational in early 2025. Additional measures outlined in the decree, such as enhanced know-your-customer protocols, will be introduced in 2025.

Earlier, the Spanish Tax Agency announced stricter regulations regarding the declaration of gambling earnings in personal income tax filings.

Meanwhile, Push Gaming has expanded its footprint in Europe through a new partnership with Jokerstar in Germany. Under the agreement, a range of Push Gaming’s titles will be introduced to the Jokerstar.de platform.

This deal marks another significant step for Push Gaming, which has previously partnered with over half a dozen operators worldwide.

Fiona Hickey, Chief Business Development Officer at Push Gaming, said: “Jokerstar.de is gaining momentum in Germany, making it an ideal platform to introduce our portfolio to. We’re confident that our diverse selection of game types and themes will resonate with their growing customer base.”

Hickey also emphasised the strategic importance of partnering with a prominent brand like Jokerstar.de as part of Push Gaming’s growth strategy in Germany and across Europe.

Nico Müller, Project Manager at Jokerstar.de, highlighted the demand for Push Gaming’s content within player communities and the significance of offering these games on their platform.
