Relax Gaming Teams Up with PointsBet for Expansion in Ontario, While Netherlands Introduces New Online Gambling Deposit Limits

Relax Gaming has strengthened its presence in Ontario through a new deal with PointsBet. This partnership will allow PointsBet to integrate Relax Gaming’s online casino games, including popular slots and live dealer options, into its platform.

The agreement further boosts Relax Gaming’s expansion in North America, following its entry into Ontario in March 2022. As one of the first suppliers to offer content in the region, Relax Gaming initially launched with over 120 games across multiple operators.

By integrating Relax Gaming’s products, PointsBet is set to enhance its online casino offering. The operator, known for its sports betting options, will now offer an even wider range of entertainment through Relax Gaming’s content.

Relax Gaming CEO Martin Stålros said: “Since our launch in Ontario, we’ve seen great success, with our games appealing to a diverse range of players in the region.”

Scott Vanderwel, CEO of PointsBet Canada, added: “Relax Gaming has built a solid reputation in North America, particularly in Ontario. Their impressive content will improve engagement on our platform, and we’re excited to offer even more immersive experiences to our players.”

Earlier, Relax Gaming broadened its presence in the US by launching with BetMGM in Pennsylvania

Meanwhile, new online gambling deposit limits have come into effect in the Netherlands as of October 1. All licensed operators must now block net deposits over €700 per month. For players aged 18 to 25, the limit is set at €300.

These limits reset at the start of each month. Players can request to increase their deposit limit by providing proof of income, but it can’t exceed 30% of their net income.

When signing up, players are required to set personal deposit limits. Operators must carry out financial checks for monthly deposits above €350, or €150 for players under 25. Additionally, responsible gambling messages must pop up every 30 minutes.

Players who choose the highest deposit limits will need to have a one-to-one session with customer care staff. This can happen over the phone or through the gaming interface but must involve human interaction—not a chatbot. Staff are also required to inform players about the national exclusion register.

Customers can lower their deposit limits at any time, but if they want to increase it, they’ll have to wait seven days. Operators must notify players of their risk profiles and spending habits. Pop-up messages on spending limits and behaviour will appear every 30 minutes. When players reach 50% and 100% of their spending limits, they will be notified. If they hit 100%, they will be logged out of their account. The trade association VNLOK has given its backing to the measures.
