Pragmatic Play has expanded its partnership with Betnacional, a leading Brazilian brand, by launching three of its popular product suites on the platform. Players of the NSX-owned brand now have access to Pragmatic Play’s extensive collection of slot games.

Luiz Andrade Lima, representing Betnacional, highlighted Pragmatic Play’s popularity in Latin America, especially in Brazil, and expressed enthusiasm about offering their titles to casino customers. The comprehensive range of content now available on Betnacional’s platform marks a strong start to 2024 and is expected to bring significant rewards for both parties.
Earlier, Pragmatic Play entered into a partnership with Gaming1 and expanded its presence in the regulated markets of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, the Colombian Senate has announced plans to review the taxation of online gambling as part of the government’s efforts to implement welfare and healthcare reforms. Senator Antonio Correa from the Partido de la Union will lead the discussions in the upper house starting on Friday, February 16.
The current tax rates for licensed online gambling operators in Colombia stand at 15% of GGR for those with a Return-To-Player (RTP) rate of 83% and 17% for operators with a higher RTP rate. While no specific new tax percentages have been proposed, Correa emphasised that the objective is to increase funding for healthcare services by revising the taxation structure in the sector.
Correa acknowledged the sensitivity of the topic as the gambling industry plays a significant role in supporting Colombian sports leagues and media.
Coljuegos, the Colombian gambling regulator, reported tax revenues of COL $750 billion (approximately €166 million) up to October 2023, earmarked for public health projects as a key social initiative.
President Gustavo Petro’s commitment to healthcare and welfare reform in Colombia has sparked debate, including disagreements with former Coljuegos President Roger Carrillo Ocampo. Colombia paved the way for legalised online gambling in South America in 2016 with the update of its 2001 Gambling Act, followed by the launch of regulated online gambling in 2017, welcoming both domestic and international operators to the market.
