Meanwhile, the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies has successfully passed a bill concerning sports betting and online gambling, which had undergone several amendments by the Senate before being resubmitted to the lower house of the National Congress.
The document is currently awaiting approval from President Lula da Silva. As outlined in the bill, only companies that comply with Brazilian legal regulations will be allowed to offer gambling services. A three-year licence can be acquired for a fee of 30 million Brazilian reals, and operators will have to pay a 12% tax rate. This tax revenue will be distributed for various purposes, with 6.63% allocated for sports development, 5% for the tourism industry, and 2% for social security.
Furthermore, the legislation allows only licensed operators to promote sports betting and online gambling. Notably, they are prohibited from offering bonuses to clients.
Earlier, the Dutch Authorities revealed the plan to set stricter rules for online gambling.
