Curacao Revises Pricing for iGaming Licences as Playson Secures New Approval from Gibraltar Licensing Authority

The Government of Curacao has unveiled updated guidelines as part of a revised licensing system for iGaming firms, introducing new pricing for services within the jurisdiction. While awaiting parliamentary approval, these updates bring greater clarity to Curacao’s gaming legislation. Unlike the previous regulations, companies must now specify whether they operate as B2B or B2C.

Under the new rules, businesses engaging directly with players and overseeing financial transactions or data management will require a B2C licence. On the other hand, operators launching their business on the island will need a mandatory B2B licence.

Proposed fees for B2C companies include a €4,600 application fee, along with a €125 to €250 fee for a comprehensive check. The annual fee is set at €24,600, with a monthly fee of €2,050. Additionally, a domain requires a €250 annual fee, with no limit on the number of domains.

In total, the annual licensing cost for B2C operators would amount to €49,200, and €250 for each domain. B2B licences carry similar fees, excluding monthly payments and domain purchases.

While these fees are pending approval, operators can conduct preliminary cost analyses. The combination of increased service costs and more stringent legislation poses make it more difficult for Curacao to compete with other jurisdictions such as Malta and the Isle of Man.

Meanwhile, Playson, a popular content provider in the iGaming industry, has successfully secured a B2B gaming licence from the Gibraltar Licensing Authority. This step is part of the company’s comprehensive development plan, aligning with its recent expansions and future growth objectives.

The approval of the gaming licence comes on the heels of a year marked by fast growth for Playson.

Before reaching this final stage of licensing, Playson submitted a detailed business plan to the Gibraltar Gaming Authority for pre-licence approval. This involved a thorough due diligence review of all Playson’s operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. As a result, regulatory compliance was confirmed, leading to the issuance of a gaming licence by the Gibraltar Licensing Authority.

The assortment of the provider now includes the Crystal Land 2 slot, launched on December 14, 2023. This game blends enticing features and captivating themes, delivering an unforgettable experience.
