According to the recently published report by the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA), Denmark’s gross gambling revenue surged to DKK 6.795 billion by the close of 2023.

This represents a slight uptick of 1.0% compared to figures from 2022. Online casino activities contributed significantly, generating revenue of 3.07 billion Danish kroner, while online sports betting followed closely with 2.18 billion Danish kroner. Slot machines secured the third position, contributing 1.17 billion Danish kroner to the overall revenue, while brick-and-mortar casinos accounted for 362 million Danish kroner.
Examining the data specific to December 2023, the monthly revenue stood at 665 million Danish kroner. It is a notable 22.6% growth compared to the same period the previous year.
Earlier, Denmark launched a website dedicated to gambling.
Meanwhile, the Alabama House of Representatives passed a series of bills with the aim of legalising land-based and online sports betting, establishing a state lottery, and permitting casinos.
These bills propose that the decision regarding the legalisation of gambling be put to a vote by the state’s citizens through a referendum scheduled for November of this year. Should the referendum yield a positive outcome, the responsibility of regulating gambling activities would fall under the purview of the Gaming Commission.
The authors of the bills anticipate that the introduction of gambling could potentially generate up to $1 billion in revenue annually for the state of Alabama.
Following the passage of the bills in the House of Representatives, they have now been forwarded to the Alabama Senate for further deliberation and voting. If approved by the Senate, the bills will then be presented to Governor Kay Ivey for her signature. Governor Ivey has expressed her support for the legalisation of gambling in the state.
