Danish gambling spends rose sharply in July 2025

New figures from Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, show a significant rebound in gambling activity for July 2025. Danish players spent a total of 634 million Danish Kroner (DKK), which is $99.16 million. This represents a strong 12.9% increase compared to July of the previous year.

Danish gambling spends surged in July 2025. CT Interactive expands global reach via SBC Summit Lisbon.

The online casino sector saw the biggest boost. Spending surged by 20.3% to reach DKK 349 million. Within this category, slot games dominated, accounting for 83.49% of spend (DKK 291.7 million).

Other popular online casino games included:

  • Blackjack: 6.37% (DKK 22.2m)
  • Roulette: 4.8% (DKK 16.8m)
  • Bingo: 2.23% (DKK 7.79m)
  • Poker: 2.16% (DKK 7.5m)

Mobile play was key. Over 70% of all online casino deposits were made via mobile devices. Thursday was the most popular day for deposits, while weekends were less active.

Land-based casinos enjoyed robust growth, with spending up 13.8% to DKK 33 million.

The betting market also grew. Bookmaker turnover increased by 6% to DKK 159 million. The vast majority of bets (71.86%) were placed online using mobile phones. Only 10.54% of betting spend happened in physical shops.

Slot machines were the only sector to see a decline, dropping 2.2% to DKK 90 million. The daily average spend on these land-based slots was DKK 3 million. Most of this (80.1%) was in arcades, with the rest in restaurants. Thursday at 4 PM was the peak time for play.

The national self-exclusion register, ROFUS, now has 62,577 people registered. Of these, 40,649 have chosen permanent exclusion.

This July report marks a sharp turnaround from June’s figures, which had shown a 17% year-on-year decrease in spending. The data indicates a strong recovery in the Danish gambling market for this period.
