Hacksaw Gaming has arrived in the Czech Republic via Apollo Games casino deal

Hacksaw Gaming has officially entered into the Central European market. The popular supplier has launched its entire portfolio in the Czech Republic. This strategic move comes through a new partnership with Apollo Games Casino.

As a result, Apollo Games Casino is now the first licensed Czech online casino to offer Hacksaw Gaming titles. Local players can immediately access a suite of thrilling games.

Founded in 2019, Apollo Games Casino went live online in 2021. The operator is now delivering fan-favourite Hacksaw slots to its audience. Furthermore, Apollo Games Casino plans to release even more Hacksaw Gaming titles in the coming weeks.

Stanislav Jurecka, iGaming Head of Product Development at Apollo Games Casino, commented on the deal. He said: “We are thrilled to be the first licensed online casino in the Czech Republic to offer these unique games. We have received positive player feedback since day one. We believe this cooperation will greatly benefit both parties.

Marcus Cordes, Operational CEO of Hacksaw Gaming, also shared his thoughts. He stated: “Entering the Czech Republic with Apollo Games Casino is a major milestone for us. We are excited to introduce our unique portfolio. Additionally, we are confident this partnership will drive strong engagement and growth. Ultimately, Apollo Games’ commitment to innovation makes them an ideal partner for our expansion.”

Belgian regulator demands urgent gambling reforms

The Belgian Gambling Commission (Kansspelcommissie) is pushing the government to fast-track its regulatory reforms. This call to action comes from the regulator’s 2024 Annual Report, which also reveals a significant rise in player numbers.

Magali Clavie, the Commission’s President, urged immediate progress. She stressed that “too much precious time has been wasted” and welcomed the new government’s agreement for reform.

Furthermore, Clavie emphasised the need for the regulator to modernise. The goal is to align Belgium’s approach with other European counterparts and adapt to the current market.

The report highlights a substantial increase in gambling participation since 2020:

  • Daily players rose 37.4% to an average of 155,643.
  • Monthly players reached 602,288, up 19.8%.
  • New registrations also grew by 15% year-on-year.

Conversely, land-based casinos saw far fewer visitors, with only about 15,937 daily guests.

In 2024, the regulator was active in licensing and enforcement. It maintained 9 casino licences and issued thousands of permits for betting shops, cafes, and suppliers.

Importantly, it investigated 101 unlicensed operators. However, only 19 complied with orders to block Belgian players.

Consequently, 34 sites were blacklisted and 105 illegal website URLs were blocked.

This action addresses major industry concerns. In fact, the Belgian Association of Gaming Operators (BAGO) estimates that 25% of players use unlicensed sites.

The Excluded Persons Information System (EPIS) also saw growth. It now has over 56,400 registrations, with about a third of people joining voluntarily.
